Evacuation or mini-vacation?

Two weeks ago the hills surrounding our Moorpark home were on fire! Having been through a fire-induced evacuation before my mom and I decided to grab our bags and head to her Encinitas home to avoid any drama and/or danger.
Marty and my dad were in India so we didn't need any permission for our fun-on-the-run.

It turned out to be a super-duper time with the Ermanis' family and Montgomery family -- we had a ginormous playdate at Amanda's new home in La Costa AND we went to Legoland for the first time.

Rocketship Dentist

Last Wednesday Jayden and Zachary took their maiden voyage to the dentist. Although apprehensive at first they were quickly won over by all the "on board" distractions like a tutorial cartoon, video game stations, play center, toy spaceship with their names on it....
This is the coolest dentist office for children I've seen and a very effective environment for calming childlike fears. This first visit included a tour of the ship (cleaning stations, treasure chest, etc), x-rays, teeth counting -- a Meet the Dentist experience. Both of them are super excited to return in 2 weeks for their first cleaning.Watching Disney's Cars while waiting for Dr. Nina to show Zach the x-rays of his teeth.
Jayden was super brave and took the first seat in the X-ray chair to show Zachary how it's done.

8 Weeks

A little R & R

Since the weather forecast called for a cooling trend last weekend, we decided to pack up the fam and head to the Desert. Marty's parents and sister live in Cathedral City and it had been quite some time since we had made the journey to visit them.

While Jayden and Zachary swam and slept with Grandma and Grandpa; Marty, Oliver and I lounged and leisured at a rented condo. It was a super fun 3 days for the kids and a treasured time of rest for us parents. We will definitely repeat the adventure soon!

Zach's 1st Day of Preschool

We've anticipated this special day for months and it finally came!

Jayden is thrilled beyond description to have her brother join her at school. They are in different classrooms, but join each other for the outdoor playtime.

Tuesday was a particularly fun day to start because it was "Pajama Day", and that meant doughnuts at snack time!!Oliver chose to sleep through the morning excitement which surprised me as he typically despises the car seat. He's a ravenous lil' eater and is working on gettin' some yummy chubby rolls.
